Historic Opening Day
As per trade reports, Coolie opened with a record-breaking ₹65 crore in India on Day 1. Tamil Nadu led the charge with ₹44.5 crore, followed by the Telugu states with ₹15.5 crore. Hindi markets contributed ₹4.5 crore, while Karnataka added ₹50 lakh. This massive opening set the tone for the film’s blockbuster run.
Star Power & Pan-India Appeal
Featuring an ensemble cast of Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan, Coolie is backed by Sun Pictures. The film was released in five languages – Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, which helped it attract audiences across India.
The Road Ahead
Despite mixed reviews and polarising word of mouth, Coolie has managed to sustain strong momentum. Trade analysts believe that the movie could easily touch the ₹600 crore mark worldwide, and may even challenge Rajinikanth’s 2.0, which remains the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time.
So far, only three Tamil films have crossed the ₹600 crore milestone – 2.0, Jailer (both starring Rajinikanth), and Vijay’s Leo. If Coolie maintains its pace, it could soon join this elite club.
